10 Unique Tips to Getting Your Summer Body

Summer is right around the corner, and if you want to have the body of your dreams when you hit the beach or the pool, it’s important to start working on it immediately. Here are 10 unique tips that can help you build a leaner, more muscular physique by the time summer arrives.

1. Go Alcohol-Free

This can seem like a big commitment, but not consuming alcohol can make a huge different in how you look and feel. Alcohol isn’t good for your metabolism, and most alcoholic beverages are loaded with empty calories.

Try committing to no alcohol for a certain time period first, such as two weeks. Once you see the results, it will be easier to stick with being alcohol-free.

2. Increase Your Water Intake

Water is undoubtedly the best beverage for your body, and it’s better to drink more than you need than less. Aim for three liters to one gallon per day, as this will keep you well-hydrated at all times. Not only will this keep your body running smoothly, but water can keep your stomach full and decrease your appetite.

3. Work Your Abs More

Having a strong core is important for your overall health, and of course, when people think “summer body,” they usually picture washboard abs. Adding a few ab exercises can give you that extra bit of definition in your abs that makes them look even better.

4. Try Shorter, More Intense Workouts

It’s easy to get into the habit of going to the gym and taking plenty of rest time in-between sets. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you’re working hard, you should try a different pace from time to time. Circuit training is one great way to get an intense workout in less time.

5. Do More Cardio

If you’re stuck at the same weight and you want to shed a couple pounds, adding cardio could be the perfect solution. High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a popular type of cardio that works better for fat loss.

6. Get a Tan

There’s a reason bodybuilders get ridiculously tan before they compete. A tan helps bring out all the definition in your muscles so that you look your best. Depending on how often you can get outside, you may be able to get your tan once summer arrives, but a spray tan or self-tanning products are another option.

7. Work with a Personal Trainer

If you’re currently working out on your own, a personal trainer could help sharpen up your routine to make it more effective. They’re also an excellent source of motivation. Even working with a personal trainer once every week can help you get better results.

8. Mix Up Your Workout Routine

It can be tough to stay motivated when you’re doing the same exercises over and over, plus your body gets used to this. Look for new exercises you can do to shock your body, such as a kickboxing class or rock climbing.

9. Incorporate Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent fasting is a popular trend, and while it may not be quite as amazing as some people claim, it does appear to have several health benefits, and helping with fat loss is one of them. There are plenty of different fasting schedules you can try, such as fasting 12 or 24 hours once per week, or fasting for 12 hours per day and eating all your meals during the other 12 hours.

10. Use Your Car Less

Whenever you increase your activity level, it’s good for your body because you’re burning more calories. One simple way to do this is to reduce how often you drive. If a place where you need to go is a reasonable distance away, try walking or biking there. It’s healthy and you’ll spend less on gas.

There are plenty of ways you can get closer to the summer body you want. If you implement some or all of the tips above, you’ll definitely see results by the time the weather starts heating up.
